🔥 Imposter Syndrome in Recovery: Why Feeling Like a Fraud Doesn’t Matter
Here’s the deal — imposter syndrome thrives on extremes. In your head, you’re either the perfect poster child for recovery… or a total fake. And your brain? It’s betting on fake every single time.
But reality check: AA doesn’t care if you feel like a fraud. Page 94 says, “Outline the program of action… and why you are now endeavoring to be helpful to him.” Translation? Show up. Do the work. Stop overthinking it.
No one’s keeping score on how many years sober you must have before you “count.” I’ve got almost 5 years and I still feel like a baby in this. Same with faith — I’m no biblical scholar. I just keep showing up, praying, learning, and getting better every day.
Recovery isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being present. Keep showing up, keep doing the work, and watch your brain’s “fraud” narrative fall apart.
