Cancel culture isn’t a modern political phenomenon—it’s an ancient blood sport powered by Wi-Fi.

Instead of dealing with our own unaddressed guilt and resentment, we project our internal rot onto strangers who slip up online, sacrificing them in the digital public square just to feel 15 minutes of unearned righteousness without having to repent. From the ancient ritual of the scapegoat in Leviticus 16 to modern social media dogpiles, algorithms have industrialized human sacrifice at scale. When we wash our hands like Pontius Pilate and hit repost, we aren’t fighting for justice—we’re participating in a digital mob execution.

Let’s talk about it: Where is the line between holding someone accountable and participating in mob cruelty? Drop your thoughts in the comments.

About Michael

I'm Michael, a mental health creator, recovered alcoholic, future therapist, and the host of Sober Psychology. After realizing how much of the traditional mental health conversation misses the mark, I decided to build a space dedicated to raw, unfiltered self-examination and personal healing. My approach combines psychological principles with brutal honesty and hard truths, cutting through the noise to help people navigate their own growth. No toxic positivity, no hidden shame—just real conversations about what it actually takes to heal.
