"Unforgiveness is like drinking poison..." is a cute quote for a wooden sign at Target, but biologically and psychologically? It's complete garbage. 🧠👇

Society pushes forced forgiveness because your rightful anger makes them uncomfortable. Telling you to "forgive for your own sake" is often just emotional cowardice wrapped in pop psychology—a way to force you to perform resolution so everyone else can go back to feeling comfortable.

When you force forgiveness prematurely, you invalidate legitimate grief and create somatic illness in your own body. You don't owe anyone premature absolution.

💬 Have you ever felt pressured or spiritually gaslit into forgiving someone? Drop your experience in the comments—I’m reading and replying to every single one.

About Michael

I'm Michael, a mental health creator, recovered alcoholic, future therapist, and the host of Sober Psychology. After realizing how much of the traditional mental health conversation misses the mark, I decided to build a space dedicated to raw, unfiltered self-examination and personal healing. My approach combines psychological principles with brutal honesty and hard truths, cutting through the noise to help people navigate their own growth. No toxic positivity, no hidden shame—just real conversations about what it actually takes to heal.
